Winter food and Blanket drive 2017

Blanket. Clothing & Food Hamper Drive

Dear devotees

We sincerely thank all of you for your contributions in kind and cash to the various Social Welfare Projects Of Pretoria Bhajanai Mandram.

Winter is upon us and the severe biting cold means misery and unhappiness for many less fortunate, who brave the cold in order to survive.

A cardinal virtue of spirituality is to show gratitude for being fortunate to sleep in a warm, comfortable and secure bed by developing compassion for those who are not so fortunate, and many who die because of cold exposure. With this in mind we appeal to you to contribute to our blanket drive by donating money towards the purchase of blankets that will be given to those in need. A good blanket is priced at about R90.00. We appeal to you to support this initiative and are very grateful for your contributions in previous years.

Our social workers in Rustenburg informed us that there is a great need for clothing, especially for children. We have decided to collect clothing in addition to the food hamper and blankets that we will be distributing.  All of us have used or unwanted clothing that we no longer use and we can certainly make someone benefit from this. We hereby request you to donate your used or unwanted clothing, which is in good condition, for this Seva Project.

Please note that clothing given must be given in a dignified manner and that all clothing should be:

  • Clothing which is in a good condition;
  • It should be clean;
  • It should be ironed;
  • It should be in a  transparent plastic bag;

It should have a “label or note” on the outside describing the type of garment, size, whether it is suitable for male or female, child (include approximate age) or adult, as this information will make collection, sorting out the garments and distribution easy and appropriate for the recipient.

We are aware that in order to prepare the items in this manner it would require effort and sacrifice from you, which we appreciate greatly, and we hope that you and your family will look at this as an opportunity to teach our all of us  the great virtue of sharing and caring. This act of preparation of the items for distribution by you is in itself  a great Seva, a service to humanity.

For the food hamper  you may donate non-perishable food items, like tin food, or toiletries.
Please call the appropriate contact person to arrange a time for you to drop off the items at a venue suitable to you and this should be done on or before the 1st  July 2017.
